Aoife Beary, 27, from Blackrock, south Dublin, survived the twist of fate which claimed the lives of six of her friends after a balcony on an condo block in California collapsed.

Ms Beary, along with six other students, suffered life-changing injuries following the tragedy.

A gaggle of scholars, maximum of whom were in the United States on a J-1 summer season operating visa, had been celebrating Ms Beary’s twenty first birthday at a party held in the Library Gardens apartment block on June 16, 2015.

Ms Beary suffered a serious brain damage within the fall and later underwent open middle surgical procedure.

She suffered a large number of injuries, including broken bones and organ lacerations.

Following the twist of fate, she gained remedy and rehabilitation at hospitals both in California and Dublin.

In contemporary years, Ms Beary had been learning at Oxford Brookes University in England.

She died in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin Saturday evening, having suffered a stroke on Wednesday.

Lorcán Miller, Eimear Walsh, Niccolai Schuster, Eoghan Culligan, and cousins Olivia Burke and Ashley Donohoe all died within the tragedy.

In the years following the tragedy, Ms Beary had campaigned to pressure building firms to free up public safety information and record any work-related crimes or settlements to California’s development regulator.

In 2016 she testified ahead of the California state legislature in a hearing on law to power contractors to be extra transparent about past prison claims against them.

The balcony Ms Beary and her pals had been on was constructed via a company with a history of criminal claims towards it, which were not give away to the state’s licensing board which regulates the business.

At the in August 2016, Ms Beary advised US politicians: “Some of my accidents can be with me for the remainder of my existence.”
