Campbell’s brutal pursuit of Communists forced Freddie on the run, leaving his girlfriend Ada Shelby at the back of. Freddie and Ada were seeing every different in secret, on account of his feud with Tommy, and her brothers’ fearsome reputation. While Freddie was long past, Ada realised she was pregnant, and simply when Polly was taking her on the train to Cardiff to have her pregnancy terminated, Freddie arrived and proposed. Freddie and Ada married, after which via Polly, Tommy introduced them £two hundred and tickets on a ship to New York. Freddie refused to head and advised Tommy that he’d cherished Ada since he was twelve and she was nine, and that she cherished him back.
Grace Betrays Freddie
Wanted by way of the police and feuding with Tommy, Freddie was compelled to leave the city again. On the night Ada went into Labour – the day of John’s wedding to Esme Lee – Tommy agreed a truce until first light so that Freddie could come and spot his new-born child.
