St. Charles woman Laura Kizman sues after being mauled by neighbors' Rottweiler dogs

Laura Kizman said her life was turned upside down after she was mauled by her neighbors two dogs in December. She said the attack lasted nearly 10 minutes. She and her husband are now suing the dogs owners, accusing them of failing to take proper precautions to control them.

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (WLS) — A St. Charles woman has filed a lawsuit after spending weeks in the health center after she was attacked two Rottweilers.

Laura Kizman stated her life was once grew to become upside down after she used to be mauled by her neighbors’ two dogs in December. She mentioned the assault lasted just about 10 mins.

She and her husband are now suing the dogs’ house owners, accusing them of failing to take correct precautions to control them.

“Very temporarily, I knew I was in numerous trouble,” Kizman recalled. “The first thing I thought of was my circle of relatives and my kids. I have four youngsters.”

Kizman stated she used to be out for her daily run when she stopped to help her neighbor capture probably the most dogs that was once at the loose. That’s when she stated the neighbor’s different two dogs, each Rottweilers, started biting her.

She and the neighbor tried to combat off the dogs, however couldn’t. Another neighbor saw the assault, grabbed a gun, and shot and killed some of the dogs. The different dog used to be scared off.

Attorney Tim Cavanaugh stated the Kizmans have really extensive clinical bills from the attack and are suing the dogs’ house owners, who do not face legal charges.

Kizman suffered serious accidents to her legs, palms and scalp, and stayed within the sanatorium for nearly a month. She continues to visit rehab and now needs a walker to get around.

“I've a favorable perspective and I believe like I’m going to overcome it up to I possibly can,” she said.

The Kizmans stated the dogs’ owners voluntarily had the second one Rottweiler euthanized the day after the attack, and that they apologized for what happened. Kizman may just face more surgeries as she continues to get well.
